Habits & choices are the difference between weight gain or weight loss
Age does not cause weight gain. However, if your habits and choices are less than ideal, these will cause you to gain weight as you age. By changing your habits and making different choices, you can lose the excess weight that you’ve accumulated over the years.
The most common areas that cause weight gain as we age:
Dehydration
One of the biggest areas that dehydration causes weight gain is that many people experience thirst but mistake it for hunger. This leads to overeating which leads to increased weight gain.

Food habits & choices
When it comes to food, the first aspect I always address is the pace of eating meals. Most people that have excess weight tend to eat their meals fast. This pace of eating will allow a person to eat faster than their body can register being satiated by their meal.
This is another area that will cause a person to overeat which leads to increased weight gain.
This is the next area I address even before we look at food quality and making other dietary changes.
Poor sleep
Sleep has a major influence on your ability to lose weight and maintain weight loss. Often, getting better quality and quantity sleep goes beyond just scheduling it.
This is one area that we focus a lot of attention on so that you’re able to curb food cravings and overeating that lead to excess weight as a result of poor sleep.
Lack of muscle
As we get older, we tend to lose muscle. This is where the old adage, “Move it or lose it,” comes into play. A majority of people do not strength train on a regular basis.
Strength training builds the crucial lean muscle tissue that increases your metabolism. A higher metabolism is one of the keys to making substantial results when working to lose weight.
Lack of movement
When a person has excess weight, moving can become uncomfortable and even painful for some. But movement is a vital part of weight loss. The key I focus on is to use movement that best supports your needs while minimizing the discomfort and/or pain that movement can bring.
Although this is vital to reaching your weight loss goals, this portion of the program can be delayed while implementing other areas that will bring results that reduce discomfort and pain once movement is added to your plan.
Excess stress
Although it’s ideal to maximize your weight loss results by implementing each and every area I’ve listed into your routine right now from a pure results standpoint. This is less than ideal from the perspective of making sustainable changes to your habits and choices.
Adding too much too soon will cause most people to fail due to becoming overwhelmed. This leads to frustration.
